OGE Publishes Proposed Rule Updating Part 2635 and Seeks Feedback from the Public

The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) has published a proposed rule revising the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch (5 C.F.R. part 2635). The proposed amendments seek to update the Standards based on OGE’s experience gained from application of the regulation since its inception. The proposed rule incorporates past interpretive guidance, modernizes regulatory examples to make them more relevant and inclusive, updates citations, and corrects technical deficiencies.


Written comments are invited and must be received on or before April 24, 2023. Comments will be accepted by any of the following methods: 
1)    Email: 2635modernization@oge.gov. Include the reference “Proposed Amendments to Standards of Conduct” in the subject line of the message.
2)    Mail: Office of Government Ethics, Suite 500, 1201 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20005–3917, Attention: “Proposed Amendments to Standards of Conduct.”
